SCIENTISTA MISSION
The Scientista Foundation nonprofit’s mission is to empower pre-professional women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEMM) through online resources, communities and conferences.
 
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Development Committee leads the Scientista Board of Directors' (BOD) participation in resource development and fundraising. The Committee works with the BOD to develop the organization’s fundraising plan to organize and spearhead fundraising initiatives both independently and in collaboration with the Scientista Executive Team.

This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about Scientista’s mission and who has a track record of leadership. Selected Board Members will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector. His/her accomplishments will allow him/her to attract other well-qualified, high-performing Board Members.

DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop long-term and annual fundraising plans that will generate the funds needed to meet the organization’s fundraising goal.
• Develop a plan for involving Board members in non-grant fundraising activities of the organization.
• Investigate new fundraising projects, activities, and potential revenue streams.
• Identify and maintain list of key industry and academic stakeholders.
• Oversee donor outreach and major gift campaigns.
• Organize fundraising events.

 
BOD TERMS/PARTICIPATION
Committee Members serve a one-year term to be eligible for re-appointment on an annual basis. Board meetings will be held quarterly and committee meetings will be held in coordination with full Board meetings as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
• Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector.
• A commitment to and understanding of Scientista’s beneficiaries, preferably based on experience.
• Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals.
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of Scientista’s beneficiaries.

Service on Scientista’s Board of Directors is without remuneration, except for administrative support, travel, and accommodation costs in relation to Board Members’ duties.
