The Scientista Foundation InternshipsApplication Call for 2021-2022 Scientista Internship Program

All positions can be applied for at https://forms.gle/7FhueC5WjuRXDUtq8 Campus Team Member Scientista is launching a new initiative to build campus chapters at Historically Black Colleges & Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, and Junior and Community Colleges toward our goal of supporting women from historically underrepresented groups in STEM. We are looking for 2 individuals to join our Campus team, under the guidance of our Campus Co-Directors, to help recruit and onboard these new chapters and to support their growth with dedicated resources, virtual events, and mentorship. This is a 6-month, part-time internship where you will build valuable skillsets in communication, organization, leadership, team management, and advocacy. Time commitment is ~5 hours/week; this is an unpaid remote position; however, you will receive free registration and travel (if necessary) to the next Scientista Symposium. You will also receive one-on-one mentorship from the Scientista Executive Team and Board of Directors. No experience is necessary to apply but previous experience with a Scientista chapter or program is a plus. Strong candidates will have a clear passion for increasing diversity and fostering inclusive excellence in the STEM community. Section Editor The editor role is a part-time internship where you can shape the content of Scientista's online magazine. Intended for students or early career science writers, who are either in school, interning, or working full time, you will gain editorial and writing experience by working with an international team of fellow science writers. The section editor's responsibilities include offering feedback on 3-5 blog pieces per month, brainstorming ideas for pieces, and contributing articles for your section. You'll gain access to mentorship from our editorial team and connections to a great network of writers and scientists. Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication and editing skills, a strong writing voice that will appeal to students and young professionals, a knack for being friendly while offering constructive criticism, an interest in STEM and Scientista's mission, and the ability to stick to and enforce deadlines. This position is remote (you can work from anywhere) and is unpaid, however you will receive free registration and travel (if necessary) to the next Scientista Symposium. Want to interview prominent women and students in science? Interested in having your writing be read by thousands of women in STEM from across the country? Then we want you! We are looking for highly motivated and passionate bloggers to join our team! Ideally, you're a science major with a passion for writing or a writer with a passion for science, but all are welcome to apply. The perks include mentorship and feedback from Scientista's editorial team, the opportunity to build your writing portfolio, and networking with scientists around the world. No experience is necessary to apply, but the ability to keep to deadlines is a must. During this 6-month internship, most bloggers end up with 5 new writing samples to add to their portfolio or use for job or school applications. We’d love to hear from you! Scientista is launching a new website with greater functionality and we are looking for 1 individual to assist our team in building and launching our new platform. Our ideal candidate will have some experience with web design, UX, etc. and/or be eager to learn these skills from our other team members. This is a 6-month, part-time internship where you will build valuable skillsets in communication, organization, leadership, team management, and advocacy. Time commitment is ~5-7 hours/week. This is an unpaid remote position; however, you will receive free registration and travel (if necessary) to the next Scientista Symposium. JOIN SCIENTISTAAbout ScientistaThe Scientista Foundation is a national organization that empowers pre-professional women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) through content, communities, and conferences. Currently the largest network of campus women across STEM disciplines, Scientista serves to connect all communities of women in STEM, giving such important organizations more visibility and resources, and building a strong, cohesive network of women in science that can act as one voice.
Scientista was started by two Harvard undergraduates to address the needs of collegiate women in STEM. Since its founding, Scientista has successfully expanded to 10+ campuses, and has launched a successful intercollegiate Research Symposium, and has started partnerships with major organizations and media companies, including The Huffington Post and the Association of Women in Science. Scientista was named by Enable Education as a "Top 12 Amazing Organization for Women in STEM." Archives
