MEET THE TEAM
Who's behind the action? Meet the fabulous Scientista execs who work hard to bring Scientista to you!
![]() Faculty Advisor Dr. Catherine Leimkuhler-Grimes Dr. Catherine Leimkuhler Grimes received her undergrad in Chemistry (B.S.) at Villanova University where she completed research under Professor Eduard Casillas. In 2003, she received her M.S. in chemistry at Princeton University with Professor Daniel E. Kahne, and in 2006 she went on to complete her Ph.D. in Chemistry at Harvard University with Professor Daniel E. Kahne. Following this she worked as a Cancer Research Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital with Professor Erin K. O'Shea and Professor Daniel K. Podolsky. Now she runs the Grimes Group here at University of Delaware investigating Chemical Glycobiology and Innate Immunity. She has participated in many groups similar to the Scientistas, and is an extremely accomplished scientist. We are excited to have such an enthusiastic and hardworking Scientista as the UD Chapter faculty adviser! In her spare time, she enjoys reading Discover Magazine and Chemical and Engineering News and playing board games with her family. Jill hopes to begin research this year and aspires to go to graduate school and pursue a career in chemical research. |
Nicole Place
Co-Director & Web Advisor Class of 2016 Biology Major, Conc. Cell and Molecular Biology & Genetics Marine Studies Minor After graduation, Nicole is looking forward to continuing her education by applying to graduate school. She also hopes to find a career in research. Currently Nicole is studying bacteriophage in Dr. K. Eric Wommack's research lab at the Delaware Biotechnology Institute. When she has time after classes and studying, she enjoys reading. She loves to travel and will be studying abroad in New Zealand this winter.
