Julia Tartaglia
Julia Tartaglia graduated from Harvard College in 2011 Cum Laude with a BA in Human Evolutionary Biology and an honors track in Mind, Brain and Behavior. Passionate about all that is related to the brain and the evolution of human behavior, Julia spent her four years at Harvard conducting research in the Stickgold Lab Center for Sleep and Cognition. In addition to research, Julia was active in the science community, volunteering as a Health Leads fellow, an Advocating Success for Kids advocate, and as a "big sibling" for HURA and WISHR. Finding a lack of visible female role models and a need for a stronger community among her female peers in the sciences, Julia joined WISHR, the women in science organization on campus as web manager. She saw the great value that such events such as NSAWS brought to her peers, yet felt that more could be done to strengthen these communities and to make prominent women in science more visible. Julia teamed up with her sister, Christina, in the fall of 2010 to begin the planning of Scientista™. After winning office space and seed funding from the Harvard Innovation ^3 Business plan competition, Julia is now working full time on the Scientista Foundation. Julia is extremely excited to team up with her amazing co-founder, dedicated teammates, and inspiring advisory board to empower fellow aspiring women in science in an innovative way. Julia has spoken at numerous panels and conferences, including the Harvard Women's Leadership Conference, the Association for Physical Sciences (APS) Conference, the Rosalind Franklin Society Board Meeting, and the White Plains Girl's Club. When not working on the magazine or being a Scientista, Julia enjoys exploring traveling, spending time with her friends and family, and building other websites for her two other favorite communities as a city captain of the Harvard NY 2011 society and co-director of the Harvard Italian American Alumni Association. |

Christina Tartaglia
Christina Tartaglia graduated from Harvard College in 2009 with a BA in Molecular and Cellular Biology and minor in Health Policy. A lab rat since high school, Christina has spent much of the time she was not in school working with pipettes and mice. Christina is passionate about disease and drug development, studying autoimmune diseases in both high school and college. She spent her undergraduate years working on a novel therapy for Multiple Sclerosis in the Strominger Lab. After graduating, she worked further down the pipeline in drug development as a research coordinator of clinical research trials at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Christina first discovered her passion for communities in science when she attended the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) as a senior in high school. There, she met many like-minded students who were passionate about research and communicating science to the public. Science communities were a valuable part of Christina's undergraduate experience at Harvard. She was a PRISE Fellow and PRISE Program Assistant. Christina was also a member of WISHR, and participated in HURS. Understanding how valuable a community is, Christina jumped at the opportunity to co-found The Scientista Foundation. She believes that The Scientista Foundation™ can change the stereotype of what a female scientist is. Christina is excited to continue to meet and build communities with other passionate young female Scientistas™! When she isn't working, Christina is usually reading science news or current events. She also loves museums, fashion, and traveling (especially to Italy!) She is a director of the HIAA Alumni Association. |

Isha Jain
Isha is a graduate student at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology. She hopes to one day lead her own lab that utilizes quantitative approaches to investigate disease mechanisms. She has served on several women in science panels including the L'Oreal Women in Science Panel and the International Women's Forum.
