Welcome, Columbia University Scientistas™! We are currently seeking passionate and entrepreneurial Scientistas from Columbia college and graduate schools to found our Columbia chapter! Committee and chair descriptions
Co-Director The Co-Directors are responsible for overseeing all activity in the organization. They will work directly with the Scientista National branch to manage the branch chapter, oversee recruitment, event planning, publishing, and all branch activities. Co-Directors will also be invited to become a part of the Scientista Presidents' Circle, a national group of leaders of student women in science organizations from across the nation. Campus Editor This person will be responsible for maintaining our online presence. Responsibilities of the campus editor include brainstorming campus-related content for your campus blog, managing the campus writing team, and editing and publishing content to your campus webpage. This person will also oversee the publishing of events and opportunities as well as maintain/update the design and look of the page. The campus editor will work closely with the other committees as well as the National Editorial and Writing teams. Public Relations Chair The Public Relations Committee Chair will be in charge of promoting Scientista to the campus. This person would launch marketing campaigns, manage relationships with liaisons, and direct a team of committee members. Events Chair The Events Chair is responsible for spearheading social and academic events for Scientista members and working to put on events with other organizations on campus, including other women in science Scientista affiliate organizations. The events chair is responsible for being aware of science-related events and happenings on campus and posting events to your online campus calendar. Department Affairs Chair The Department Affairs Chair will be responsible for forming and maintaining relationships with faculty and other members of academic departments. They would be responsible for seeking out and posting department-related opportunities (e.g. research assistant positions, summer opportunities) to the website. |
