Meet Flossie Wong-Staal, pioneer in HIV research

Dr. Flossie Wong-Staal is best known for her work on HIV.  She identified that HIV was the cause of AIDS in 1983 with Robert Gallo.  She then went on to become the first scientist to clone HIV and genetically map the virus.  This made it possible to develop HIV tests.  She later went on to co-found iTherX Pharmaceuticals, which focuses on hepatitis C drug development.  Read more about her life here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flossie_Wong-Staal
